The Dam

The dam has gotten a face-lift within the last few years. If you look closely you'll see that the top of the dam has the same silhouette as George Earl's mill.
The place has been a playground for generations
of kids growing up in Hobart. Many a crayfish and small catfish where
caught among the rocks by kids with nothing more than their bare hands.
The slide down the dam has ruined many pairs of shorts. The area has
become a haven for ducks. The "dam" ducks,
as they are called, swarm to anyone with an open hand or bag full of
bread or lettuce. They stop traffic as they single file across the main
road without a care in the world. An annoyance to some, but they would
be missed it they weren't around. See the dam in winter. |
