Hidden Lake

We're only a short distance from the North end of Lake George. The dam is about 300 yards just south of here. Hidden Lake is not connected to Lake George. It was created by the excavation of clay used in the making of bricks. The brick factory that use to excavate the clay was in business for a long time. The whole area is still covered with broken bricks of different shapes and sizes. We thought Hidden Lake was deep until Jim wrote us with a wonderful account of his scuba diving experience. The lake is 40 feet deep in some places but, 20 feet is the average. There are old work shanties and railroad tracks from the brick factory still on the bottom. Click here for a wonderful account of diving in the Clay Pit (Hidden Lake). The water has become cloudier over the years but it is still a lot cleaner than Lake George. There are plenty of bass and blue gill in here and it can be accessed along the railroad tracks for anyone who wants to try to catch some.

Let's go back to Lake George...
